There are a few truly momentous first shows of the super groups in the history of modern music… the Beatles at the Cavern Club, the Stones at the Marquee, The Friar Park sessions of the Trembling Wilburys (later renamed the Traveling Wilburys). To these we add a new volume – the birth (perhaps even the….. genesis?) of Jenesis – Jen, Jen, & Jen.

Following several months of rigorous rehearsals with GirlGuitarAustin, Austin’s One2One Bar was chosen for Jenesis’ debut show of the world tour.

We went to the Austin Trail of Lights with our friends Pam & Joe and Ron, Robyn & Joaquin. Every year the mile-long trail seems more amazing. 

Pam and Joe shared some exciting news – next June, they’re expecting a baby boy!

Every year, KUTX hosts a night of singing Christmas carols at the Texas Capitol at their Holiday Sing-Along & Downtown Stroll. We’ve been for several years now and it is always special. This year we went with our friends Ron, Robyn & Joaquin. 

We went to a fantastic French brunch at Le Politique in downtown Austin with our friends Rob, Jessica, Patty, & Macy before we attended The Nutcracker at the Long Center. We had so much fun and the artistry by the dancers and musicians was just astounding!

 

Later that weekend, we hosted some friends for a cookie party!  

We drove with Grandma & Grandpa to see the beautiful lights in downtown Round Rock. Their chamber of commerce is doing a GREAT job making the town feel like a welcoming small-town (especially compared to the thousands of people at the Austin Trail of Lights which is pretty overwhelming).

For several years Maddie has been asking to go to iFly (an indoor skydiving place). Yesterday she got her wish – we went to iFly and then shared a vanilla shake with 3 straws at Amy’s ice cream.

The training is interesting – they emphasize that the key to skydiving is to move slowly and to try to hold still so that you can find equilibrium. We all did really well. You’ll see in the below video that Maddie’s legs were flapping around a bit and the instructor told her to keep her legs straight. She did and was able to do a little bit of equilibrium flying without being held. During our 2nd “jump” the instructor took us up all the way up in the tower! It was pretty exciting but Maddie decided that part was a bit too much. She says she doesn’t want to try that part again until we’re older.
